It’s a dark stretch of highway but there’s nothing to fear Even radio preachers can’t reach us out here Are we tied to the stars? Are our hands on the wheel? As the world rushes by us The heavens lie perfectly still And the past is fading in my rear view But I will drive Into the unknown with you We rise and fall like a wave on the edge of the night Where the crosses march under the weight of the telephone wires Where the light and the shadows play devious games Hiding and showing the places we’re going From the places we came And where it’s all leading I haven’t a clue But I would drive Anywhere you want to To the ends of the earth for you Into the unknown with you Into the Unknown

Off My Mind 02:30
You came elephant riding When my will was weak Sent synapses firing And took a chunk of me Can’t get you off my mind Now every moment lingers Whenever you leave From the tips of your fingers To the regal ennui Can’t get you off my mind Not outnumbered but clearly overcome Now encumbered by what could never be undone How could I give you such power? I know not the day I know not the hour But any price I’ll pay To get you off my mind Can’t get you off my mind Not outnumbered but clearly overcome Now encumbered by what could never be undone

Kill the Lights There must be something in the air tonight Your eyes are glowing in the strangest light Something electric has brought you to life I can feel it in the way you move There’s something stirring up inside of you That makes me wanna take a closer view Take a closer view Believe me when I say my intentions are true But I only feel alive when I’m dancing with you So kill the lights and turn up the music Who needs those stars in the sky? Curse that moon And it’s hideous light Just give me the darkness Where everything inside of you has nowhere to hide And believe me when I say My intentions are true But I only feel alive when I’m dancing with you Here in the darkness Space and time Bend to the music Blurring the line Between you and me Here the in the darkness so slow Close my eyes now and watch you glow I can finally see The earth movie underneath our feet The melody the wine the heart the beat Every moment an eternity Finally, finally, finally Believe me when I say my intentions are true But I only feel alive when I’m dancing with you So kill the lights and turn up the music

Union Divine 03:03
Everyone I know can plainly hear it That hazy afterglow of disembodied spirits We’re hovering around like predator drones We’re crashing to the ground like enemy bones Cause when we land it’s devastation It’s devastation Of a Union Divine All the naked and the dead come out to greet us We’re all shaking phantom limbs They’re happy to meet us We’re champions of hearts Victors of minds We’re liberate souls leaving bodies behind Cause when we land it’s devastation It’s devastation Of a Union Divine

Outside my window I can hear the call to prayer Rising over brownstones and mingling with the air And it soothes me like the church bells playing Angelus at noon Be still the Brooklyn evening sky Be still the summer solstice moon Tonight her majesty returns prepare your most rejoiceful tune 'Cause out in the restaurants and the open-air cafes Lovers hit the brown bags and chess is being played While the old men sitting in the park Fall in love and sip champagne Cause ever since her majesty’s been gone This town just hasn’t been the same But tonight the order is restored And forever shall remain So bow down you skyscrapers Lay low your heights Prepare you avenues the festivals of lights For the queen returns tonight To the rush of the raging rivers To the beacon burning bright To the clamor of the headlight highways To the pigeons taking flight To the rhythm of the beating on the buckets To the rush of wind from the downtown trains To the frenzy of the mad violinist Turning music into change She can make the marble lions roar Make the ambulances sing Rejoice and be glad Tonight the queen returns to the county of the kings

They’re fast asleep The lions are in their cages They dream at ease Just knowing that the dangers out there Have been contained Their shadows roam and wander open spaces They shape their shifts And wear a thousand faces out there Unrestrained Cause when they close their eyes The beast arrives Bursting through to the sound of a million lights Crashing in waves They send the night Crashing in waves Her heart it beats And beckons like a speaker Their reverence deep They listen to the teacher out there Unrefined Her dance is strange Her rhythm unfamiliar Her face deranged A countenance peculiar Out there Keeping time And if her rite requires a sacrifice Well there’s plenty more just waiting in line Crashing in waves They send the night Crashing in waves They send the morning light off to die Bursting through to the sound of a million lights Her heart it beats and beckons like a speaker...

Back behind the curtain Lies a terrible mess From a life I was certain I’d never have to confess Till you came through my window And you woke up the dead With the perfume and moonlight That you dragged through my bed And if you only knew What life was like before you You would break down and cry And that’s why I intend To spend my days around you Till the day that I die Cause I was torn out and broken And left on the shelf Tired of breathing Tired of myself And if you only knew What life was like before you You would break down and cry And that’s why I intend To spend my days around you Till the day that I die That’s why no one comes before you That why no one comes close I’d do anything for you For you and you alone Cause if you only knew What life was like before you You would break down and cry And that’s why I intend To spend my days around you Till the day that I die

Angeline 02:40
When I was a young man I tried too hard Had my life set up like a house of cards A joker acting like a king of hearts Till the wind came and blew me away And I walked back alleys with my tongue untied And a strange look in my eye I sat and cursed the riverside Laughing at the sun going down It was long time coming but Now I know that the one I needed The one I thought would never show Moved with the air and came without a moment to spare When I was a young man I truly believed I was Walking round in someone else’s dream I swiped at shadows I kicked and screamed Hoping maybe one day they’d wake And I’d find there’s someone waiting there Now I know that the one I needed The one I thought would never show Moved with the air and came without a moment to spare Angeline Show me everything My saddest memory Is every day I spent without you Sing to me That little violent melody The one that called to me In that life I lived without you When I was a young man I tried too hard Angeline

Cold World 04:23
We ring out through the ages Two dog-eared pages From the oldest story ever told Only the names and faces change But the story remains the same Two hearts that beat strong imprisoned in rib cages Since you and I were there in the cave When the thunder crashed when the lightening came Unafraid We were unafraid And on the tip of your tongue was a sacred name For the feeling in our bones that we could not yet explain So we stayed near the flame We clung to each other we banged on the drums and sang It’s a cold world Let’s stay together Come a little closer I’ll wear you like a sweater Cause without you There would be nothing It’s a could world Let’s stay together Whenever you’re near me I feel a little better Cause without you There would be nothing Bon voyage, my love I heard you cry As the planes flew above us High And as the fire fell from the sky A single tear fell from your eyes You leaned in close and whispered Until next time It’s a cold world Let’s stay together Come a little closer I’ll wear you like a sweater Cause without you There would be nothing It’s a cold world Let’s stay together Whenever you’re near me I feel a little better Cause without you There would be nothing It’s a cold world

Late one night while I was sleeping I had met a girl there weeping And the waitress kept on sweeping up the past from the diner floor The girl looked through a pain of tears That she’d carried through the years And she tried her best to smile But her lips were trembling with fear So I looked to the girl’s reflection In the raindrops of perfection That were streaking down the window Of the diner late that night There she told me of a demon Who had come while she was dreaming Through the closet door was screaming Of the horrors that were yet to come Well I must have looked confused Bewildered and bemused Cause her soul begged for forgiveness Through contorted swollen eyes So I looked to the ashtray smoking cigarettes And I was choking On a joke that I was cracking I was much too insecure But her restlessness endured And my jokes head for the diner door Leaving me faced with her demons like a priest from a distant time She’s the kind girl who cries herself to sleep With the weight of the world over her bed She’s the kinda girl who still tries counting sheep To please that shepherd in her head And the man at the counter sipped on something black And his eyes were fixed On my broken hearted dream girl and his lips slithered to a smile And she froze when the man came near her So I knew there was something there So I pointed to the mirror Where he looked to my surprise There the demon faced the demon And the two if them were screaming As the two of us were leaving I dropped a 7 dollar tip And the waitress looked up from the floor As the two of us ran for the door the diner bell rang in the distance And my jokes started the get-a-way car
